Frequently Asked Questions
Shaft Adapters
The golf shaft adapter connects the shaft to the club head by inserting the shaft into the head and securing with the torx screw/bolt at the bottom of the club head. As opposed to a glued in bonded shaft, the shaft adapter allows players to use the same shaft in different heads (within the same brand).
To start, the golf shaft is glued inside the shaft adapter with an epoxy. Then the shaft with the adapter installed is inserted inside the club head. Once the adapter is seated at the bottom, a torx bolt is used to lock the shaft adapter in place. Each equipment manufacturer has a different design to their own shaft adapter. The adapter settings can be adjusted so that the player can find optimal lofts, lie angles, and face angles.
Shaft adapters can be removed by placing the shaft in a shaft puller and using heat to break down the epoxy. It is recommended to use low heat such as a heat gun and not a direct flame. A direct flame can damage the graphite fibers in a shaft. Once the epoxy inside the adapter has broken down from the heat, the shaft puller can be used to pull off the adapter. Patience is key here and you should never twist the adapter during the removal process.
The tip of the golf shaft should be abrased and cleaned prior to installation. It is important that only the paint is removed from the shaft tip as to not damage the integrity of the golf shaft. Using one of our Brampton epoxy products, you would apply the epoxy inside the shaft adapter and to the tip of the golf shaft. Make sure to align to the desired settings. Wipe clean and let the epoxy cure according to the instructions.
The driver and fairway shaft adapters have a .335 hosel diameter. The hybrid shaft adapters have a .370 hosel diameter.
